Numerous children
from Hood River, Cascade Locks and Mosier qualified for the
Hershey’s state track and field meet later this month at last
week’s Hershey’s Track and Field meet at HRVHS. The meet was the
Columbia Gorge qualifier for the state meet.
Winners in the girls 11-12 age group included
Casey Sherrerd, winning the standing long jump with a leap of
5-8, Jestena Mattson, winning the softball throw with a toss of
84-0, the 100-meter dash with a time of 16.6 seconds and the
200-meter dash with a time of 35.1 seconds and Taylor Simonds,
who won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:18.4.
In the boys 11-12 age group, Ryan Ward won the
standing long jump with a leap of 6-9, and the 100-meter dash
with a time of 15.8, Dallas Buckley won the softball throw with
a throw of 131-0; Aldo Muro won the 200-meter dash with a time
of 35.5 and Patrick Crompton won the 400- meter dash and
800-meter dash with times of 1:20 and 3:11 respectively.
In the girls 9-10 age group Marlie Bloomster won
the standing long jump with a jump of 5-5, the 100-meter dash
with a time of 18.4 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:34
while Annalyssa Sassara won the 50-meter dash with a time of
10.7 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 39.2.
In the boys 9-10 age group Rhett Musqueda won the
standing long jump with a jump of 5-10, the 200- meter dash with
a time of 35.1 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:25.8
while Casey Ward won the softball throw with a toss of 105-0,
the 50-meter dash with a time of 10.0 and the 100-meter dash
with a time of 17.7
In the boys 13-14 age group, Alec Wiltz won the
softball throw with a toss of 143-0, the 100-meter dash with a
time of 15.1 and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:45.
First place finishers at the Oregon State Meet on
June 14 have a chance of being chosen for a regional team to
travel to Hershey, Penn., in July for the national meet.
