HRV
outfielder Elliott Sherrell picked up one more set of all-state
honors before heading onto his collegiate career.
The
Eagles baseball slugger was named to the second-team all-state
as an outfielder, in addition to being named first team
all-league.
Also
receiving all-league honors from the Eagles were Juan Mendiola,
second team infield, Sam Kopecky, second team first base, Keanu
Webb, honorable mention outfield, Brandon Nelson, honorable
mention pitcher, Ryan Combelic and Garrett Garvin, honorable
mention infield, and Jimmy Gilkerson, honorable mention catcher.
In the
team awards, Mendiola was named the team’s Mr. Hustle, Webb was
named most improved, Gilkerson
most inspirational, Nelson Mr. Defense and best pitcher, Kopecky
Mr. Offense and Sherrell MVP.
The HRV
tennis teams also reaped a large haul of all-league honors after
sending six athletes to state.
On the
girls team, Loreto Ramos, McKenzie Kerr and Bridget Merriam were
named to first team all-league while Hillary Sager and Kirra
Paulus made the second team. In the team awards, Ramos received
the sportsmanship award and the best singles player award while
Kerr and Merriam were named best doubles team.
For the
boys, Dylan Bauld, Mauritzio von Flotow and Michael DeWitt were
named first team all-league, and Alex Ing and Isaac Bubb
received second team honors.
Von
Flotow received the sportsmanship award, Bauls the best singles
player award, and Von Flotow and DeWitt were named best doubles
team.
After
making the state playoffs, the HRV boys lacrosse team also had
several all-league honorees. Jacob Bohince was named first team
all-Columbia league attack, Jordan McHale second team midfield,
and Dustyn Lyons second team goalie.
Lyons
was also named honorable mention all state.
The HRV
girls lacrosse team also announced its team awards, with Morgan
Nance being named MVP attack, Kymee Costello MVP defense, Sierra
Bentz most improved, rookie of the year Aleah DeHart, Harleigh
Knoll coaches award and Kylie McPherson most inspirational.
For the
HRV softball team, Courtney Ewald and Cara Williams both earned
second team all-league honors. Kelli Elliott and Ewald were
named team MVP’s, while Ewald was offensive player of the year
and Williams defensive player of the year. Christian Lopez was
named team MVP.
