The
Carson Oil Hood River Valley Junior state team split a pair of
double headers over the weekend.
Against
Newberg Saturday Hood River fell behind early in game after
giving up five runs in the first, but Hood River rallied,
scoring 11 runs in the sixth inning to win 14-6.
Hood
River repeated the feat in the second game. After Newberg scored
four runs in the first, Hood River responded with eight runs in
the bottom of the second and went on to win 19-9.
Ryan
Combelic went 4 for 7 with three doubles, was twice hit by a
pitch and walked once between the two games while Sam Kopecky,
who went 4 for 7, was hit by a pitch and hit a home run.
Against
Madison Sunday, Hood River swept again, winning the first 9-4
thanks to Juan Mendiola’s 2-for-3 game.
Hood
River took the second 12-2 with Grant Young going 3-for-3 and
Brandon Nelson hitting two triples.
