Christmas in the Gorge

Christmas in the Gorge, at Stevenson, Wash. Friday features open houses at businesses in downtown Stevenson, caroling in the Courthouse Plaza and lighting of the Courthouse Christmas tree. The Starlight Parade starts at 7 p.m., this year featuring a 200-year-old horse-drawn sleigh. Cookies, coffee and cider will be available. Nearly 100 ecumenical nativity displays gathered from across the world are on display at a local church throughout the weekend with free admission. Saturday features breakfast with Santa at Rock Cove Assisted Living Center, an arts and crafts bazaar at the Skamania County Fairgrounds (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), the annual cookie faire, children’s crafts and holiday book sale. Other activities will be held at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, the Old School Grill in Carson and at the Skamania Lodge (for a full schedule at the Lodge visit There will also be a tree-lighting in Carson at 6 p.m. On Sunday you can wind down the festivities by visiting the nativity displays and the business open houses.
