Children's book writers and illustrators event

Calling all children’s book writers and illustrators: The Oregon chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is hosting a meeting in Hood River. Sue Ford and Judith Gardiner, regional advisors for SCBWI Oregon, are holding a free meet-and-greet event Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Hood River County Public Library, 502 State St. The meeting will be an opportunity to: get acquainted with local SCBWI-ers and other children’s book authors and artists; learn what SCBWI Oregon can do for you and your writing career; and ask the regional advisors your questions about writing and illustrating for children. The purpose of SCBWI Oregon is to provide writers and illustrators of children’s literature with information, instructional classes and events that will improve their writing and illustrating and aid them in meeting specialists who can further their careers. The group also strives to offer opportunities for networking with others and building a community of like-minded professionals. For more information on the Oct. 14 event or to RSVP, contact Jana Hannigan at 541-490-8086. For information on SCBWI Oregon, visit
