Open house for veterans

The Mt. Adams Institute (MAI) is hosting an open house for veterans and community members who are interested in supporting veterans as they transition back to civilian life.

MAI has developed VetsWork, a program to help veterans gain skills to prepare them for a career in natural resources. The program is looking for people who are interested in serving as mentors, being on the board, weighing in on program design or supporting the program in other ways.

Those interested are invited to an open house on Jan. 8 at the White Salmon Library, 77 Wauna Ave., between 7-8 p.m., or Jan. 10 from noon-1 p.m. at the Hood River Port office’s boardroom, 1000 E. Port Marina Drive. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The Mt. Adams Institute is a nonprofit with a mission to strengthen the connections between people and the natural world through education, service learning , career development and research.
