Open house: Wasco County Courthouse

The Original Wasco County Courthouse will take part in Fort Dalles Days with a booth at the Fort and open house with showings of video programs at the Courthouse, 410 W. Second Place. Videos on historical subjects include noon: “Early Wasco County”; 1 p.m.: “Raising Wheat by Horsepower”; 2 p.m.: “Farewell to Celilo”; and 3 p.m.: “The Craft of Wheelwrighting.” On sale are Courthouse key and badge charms, DVDs of the video programs, old wooden folding chairs and other souvenirs. The 1859 Courthouse with its sheriff's office, jail cell, and courtroom that served the largest county in Oregon's history will be open during regular summer hours, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday and Friday of Fort Dalles Days week.
