Safe Halloween

As part of their annual celebration of Halloween, Hood River merchants will welcome ghouls and goblins from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 31. To ensure a “Safe Halloween” time for everyone, the City of Hood River will close Oak Street between First and Sixth streets, as well as the connecting side streets north of State Street and south of Cascade Avenue. Free parking is available from 5-7 p.m. at the Mount Hood Railroad parking lot. During Safe Halloween, many merchants throughout all of downtown (not just in the street-closure area) will close their businesses but remain on site at the front of their stores to greet and treat costumed young people. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children, and take care when crossing the streets as people may need to move parked vehicles during the closure period.
