This class is offered free of charge to all community members coping with chronic pain. Topics include the basic physiology of pain, what is happening in our nerves and brain when we feel pain, and how a “chronic” pain state develops in our nervous system. We also cover lifestyle changes that can help reduce the severity of chronic pain. Studies show that improved understanding of how pain works in the body can lead to decreased fear, lower pain levels, improved perceptions of pain and physical performance and increased pain thresholds during physical functioning.
