In response to the letters in the paper dated Dec. 5:
I do not understand these letters complaining about a larger Wal-Mart store. If you are unhappy about that then my question is why are you there at all? Why don't you drive to The Dalles or Portland? There are two other businesses in Hood River that want to take over the building and have their business there. So don't kid yourselves into thinking they will not move out of Hood River.
To you who thought your husband was pressured into signing the petition: he is a big boy and knows how to say no or to walk away.
I also would like to address the new rates for the garbage company. In the first place the innovative way to handle recycling is a bunch of garbage. Do you know that what you recycle for them they take to Vancouver and sell it. So besides getting you to work for them they have raised our rates to an outlandish and unreasonable amount.
So do your homework, folks, and open your eyes to what is going on around you.
