On the night of Oct. 11 our flag and our neighbor's flag were removed from our front lawns. These flags were not simply cut down and stolen, but slashed with a knife and destroyed.
To the person or persons who committed this crime: both of these flags were awarded to individuals who served this country and helped to protect the freedom that you enjoy today. We feel sorry for you because you do not understand this, and you do not feel the same pride in this country that we do. You must have a lot of anger inside of you to destroy the flags the way that you did. Also, you must not have any personal goals or hopes for your own future, because you took a big chance of being seen on our busy street corner and getting arrested.
Thanks to neighbors who feel the same pride in our country that we do, our flag has been replaced. Although the new flag cannot replace the value of our former flag, it has a new special meaning to us, since it was given to us by neighbors who feel the same way that we do. In some countries you would be executed for destroying the flag. You should be glad you live in America.
