Benefit set for CL man on Sept. 15

CASCADE LOCKS -- Community groups in Cascade Locks and from throughout Hood River County are rallying to help cancer victim Zach Jones and his family.

A day-long fundraiser is planned Sept. 15 at Port of Cascade Locks Marine Park pavilion starting at 9 a.m. The agenda includes a tug-of-war competition of 10-men/women teams and junior teams for ages 17 and under. Five-person teams may also enter. The fee is $50 for 10-person teams and $25 for five-person teams.

A garage sale is also scheduled as well as a bake sale. Kids activities include a cupcake walk, bubble pond, races and games. Musicians will play throughout the day, a bingo tent is planned, and food will be for sale.

Donations can be made to Riverview Savings Bank, c/o Zach Jones Fund, Stevenson, Wash.

Zach, 22, of Cascade Locks, is the father of two children. He learned last month that he has cancer and currently undergoing treatment.

To sign up for the Tug of War, or help with the event, phone Ron and Ben Litschewski at 374-8404.
