Traffic Violators Targeted By Police

Hood River City Police will be on the watch for traffic violators during a special enforcement action from Sept. 14-23.

During that week, officers will be working with the Oregon State Patrol to ticket DUII offenders, speeding motorists and travelers not wearing safety restraints or harnessing their child in a car or booster seat.

"It is our hope that drivers will proceed with care and obey applicable traffic laws," said Chief Tony Dirks. "We further hope that as motorists choose to celebrate and then travel upon the roadways, they will employ a designated driver."

The local traffic blitz is being held as the last of the 2000/2001 blitz cycle in conjunction with Washington state and British Columbia, Canada.
