Re: "Buckling Down" (Our Readers Write, Sept. 22):
Mr. Richter: if you were willing to do the crime you evidently don't understand the statistics of accidents happening close to home. I suggest you contact your insurance company or even our local police department. As for me, if I hadn't been wearing my seat belt I would have expected the ticket beause I know our police force. They do their jobs quite well both new and old. If it were you I would be thanking the officer who gave you that ticket. He may have just saved your life by making you think twice about not buckling up.
