Jim Mesi plays at the Grill

Labor Day Weekend opens at the Grill as guitarist extraordinaire Jim Mesi makes his debut this Friday with an evening of explosive blues. Performing with Jim are longtime music associate Albert Reda on vocals and bass, Geno Michaels on organ and piano, and Justin Matz on drums. The event starts at 9 p.m. and is free to the public.

Ranked as one of Portland’s top guitarists, Jim started his rise to recognition in the 1970s in the group Brown Sugar, moved on to performances with the Paul deLay Band, and finally moving on to form the Jim Mesi Band. According to The Encyclopedia of Northwest Music, "If you ask any blues player in Portland or Seattle which guitarist they would most like to have in their band, the name 'Jim Mesi' will inevitably appear near the top of the list."
