HRV hoops teams host weekend games
The boys and girls basketball teams from Hood River Valley will each host games this weekend. The girls play St. Helens on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the annual Hood River Invitational. They will play again at either 5:45 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, depending on Friday’s result. The boys team also hosts a Saturday game when Clackamas — led by the state’s leading scorer, Tyson Papenfuss (46, 38 points in first two games) — invades the gym at 1 p.m. For more information, call 386-2318.
HRV lacrosse program seeks assistant
New Hood River Valley High School varsity lacrosse coach Mac Jackson is looking for a JV coach for the upcoming spring season. Anyone interested in helping build one of the valley’s newest and most exciting sports programs should call Jackson at 386-1232.
Hood River Billiards 9-ball tournament
Hood River Billiards will host the second Open 9-ball tournament of the year on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and the cost is $20 per player. Race to seven, double elimination format. Twelve players showed up for the first tournament in November, and more players are expected this time. E-mail email@example.com with questions.

Bend basketball tournament nears
The Mountain View Select Boys Basketball program is now taking registrations for the Columbia River Bank Holiday Hoop Festival for middle-school level teams. The tournament will be held Dec. 28-29 at Mountain View High School in Bend, and teams will compete in either the 6th grade, 7th grade or 8th grade division. All teams are guaranteed three games for the overall cost of $150. Proceeds will help fund the Mountain View youth program.
