Expansion nears end at HRVHS

Construction projects are right on schedule at Hood River and Wy'east middle school remodeling projects.

"The weather could not have been more cooperative," superintendent Jerry Sessions said, as crews poured concrete foundations at both facilities. The dry weather has particularly helped the HRMS project, where the fill soil underneath the old tennis courts was believed to be soft. A new classroom wing will be constructed on the site.

"The soil is so good, we'll be taking it to May Street Elementary and the high school landscaping projects," Sessions said. "Its kind of a bonus. It saves us money because we don't have to transfer it very far."

At Hood River Valley High School, district officials and Silco Construction did a walk through and inventory remaining work on Friday morning. "We're substantially complete, and we're looking at everything being done by end of month," Sessions said. The district plans to move into the classroom and multipurpose facility in April.
