Darlene Roberts wins 3-Club tourney

The woman’s 3 Club Tournament was held on July 18th at Indian Creek golf course. Darlene Roberts shot the Class A low gross score with an 89. The best Class A net score was shot by Clara Rice with a 69. Armanda Mason had the longest drive in the A Class, while Darlene Roberts had the closest to pin. In Class B, Patsy Prideaux posted the low gross with a 91. Irene Klyokawa had the best net score with 67. Prideaux also had the longest Class B drive, while Kathi Guthrie earned closest to pin.

Co-ed mountain bikers take third

A local relay team of Rob McCready, Jim Kimball, Dr Dick Virk, Tamara Ball and Tom Huminski finished third in the co-ed division of the Ford Gorge Games 24-hour mountain bike race, held on the Whoop-Dee Trail near Hood River.

Boys varsity soccer turn-out Thursday

All Hood River Valley High School players hoping to play boys varsity soccer this fall are asked to attend an informational practice Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Westside Field. Call coach Doug Beveridge at 386-9476 with questions.

Bridge of Gods Festival returns Aug. 10

The third-annual Bridge of the Gods Kiteboarding Festival will return to Stevenson, Wash., Aug. 10-11. Sponsored by Naish Kiteboarding and Wipika, the growing amateur event boasts many of the sports top names. Wind-permitting, the freestyle competition will begin Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. at Stevenson’s East Point. Athletes can register online at or call Floyd Wilkes at 949-981-9223.

CGWA gear swap to be held Aug. 4

The Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association (CGWA) has scheduled a gear swap on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lot west of the Hood River Expo Center. Event organizers encourage sellers to bring any outdoor recreation gear, including windsurfing, kiteboarding and kayaking equipment. Setup may begin as early as 7 a.m. There is a $10 fee for sellers.
