What is the musical style of Strut Production? That answer can vary from night to night and crowd to crowd. But no matter the form they're in, Strut will have you shaking in an irresistible manner tonight at the River City Saloon. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. and there will be a cover.
Strut Production, a trio made up of Casey Cramer on guitar, Elijah Cramer on bass, and Pat Thomas on drums, grew up together on the Farm, formerly a commune and now a small intentional community in Summertown, Tenn. Being raised at a place such as the Farm set the stage for a wide variety of musical genres they were exposed to. So depending on the elements surrounding them, Strut will dip into anything from high-paced funk, to deep hypnotizing grooves, to their patented style of "metal strut funk", they also touch flavors in Latin rhythms, classic rock, jazz & hip-hop.
Formed in the spring of 1997, Strut Production wasn't a full time group. They created only a small list of originals and played only a few festival dates on the Farm before splitting for a year while Casey attended school. After reforming for few months and receiving good reviews, Strut decided to pack up and move their operation, to accommodate a more full time setting. They now reside in the mountains of Asheville, N.C., where their style has been completely revamped.
The power-trio (with the occasional lurking dj), recently recorded their debut album, Mr. Wishbone, and will be promoting it in the upcoming months. With their sense of style, telepathy with the audience and overall relaxed atmosphere they create with the crowd.
On Friday, the musical wonder of morF hits the River City Saloon. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. and there will be a cover. morF is a collection of lifelong musicians, getting together to share the groove and burn one down. From jazz-inspired psychedelia to mind-bending rock & roll, morF does it all. The band is led by Joe Walker on vocals, who’s fame includes singing with the Carpenters at one point.
