Alumni basketball tournament coming

The annual alumni basketball tournament at Hood River Valley High School is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 30. For $15, all former high-school students and interested community members can play in an all-day “pick-up” tournament. Format will be determined based on the number of participants. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and games will begin at 9:30 or 10 a.m. For more, call Phil Hukari at 386-4500.

Indian Creek awards dinner Thursday

The Indian Creek women’s golf association will hold a season-ending awards dinner on Thursday at Divots Restaurant. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. (no host), with dinner at 7 p.m. and awards to follow. Call Darlene Roberts at 386-2750 to confirm.

Community Education youth b-ball

Hood River Community Education is now taking registrations for youth basketball. Boys and girls in grades 3-6 are eligible and games will begin the first Saturday in January. Cost is $35 per player. Registration deadline is Dec. 3. For more information, call Community Ed at 386-2055.

Youth wrestling is also underway for two age groups (K-2 and grades 3-6). Younger kids meet on Saturdays, while the older group meets on Mondays and Thursdays. Cost is $12.

Oregon Amateur Basketball tourneys

Oregon Amateur Basketball will be holding nine tournaments throughout the 2002-03 season in Portland, Salem, Bend, Eugene and Florence. Tournaments cost $185 and are open to boys and girls teams in grades 5-8. Each tournament also has a four-game guarantee. HR Billiards stirring up new activities

After a successful Autumn 9-ball tournament last weekend, Hood River Billiards is adding new activities to its fall and winter schedule. Owner Cristy Barsky has been holding weekly handicapped tournaments for both 8-ball and 9-ball, as well as a weekly Chess Club, which has been meeting every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Pool players are also reminded that they can play socially on HR Billiards’ five top-quality tables. Barsky will also be involved with the Chamber of Commerce After Hours event on Thursday, Dec. 5. For more info, call 386-2978.
