Eight kids advance to district shoot

Eight local kids won their respective age groups at last Saturday’s Knights of Columbus hoop shoot, and will move on to the Feb. 23 district competition in Gresham. The local contest was held at Wy’east Middle School and was open to boys and girls 10-14 years old. Pictured above, from left to right, are the winners: Nicholas Reeves (14 year-old boys), Caroline Kelly (13 year-old girls), Nicole Richards (11 year-old girls), Jaclyn Bryant (10 year-old girls), Alisa Logsdon (14 year-old girls), Garrett Garvin (11 year-old boys) and Don Valentine (13 year-old boys). HR Little League holds final sign-up

Today (Feb. 12) is the last day to register for Hood River Little League. The sign-up session will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Westside Elementary. Please bring a copy of player’s birth certificate. Call 386-2450 with questions.

Babe Ruth sign-ups Feb. 19-20

The local Babe Ruth baseball chapter will hold sign-ups on Feb. 19-20 from 5-8 p.m. in the Westside Elementary School foyer. Age groups are for 13 year-olds; 13-15 year-olds and 16-19 year-olds. Co-ed volleyball league seeks players

Anyone interested in playing co-ed volleyball is asked to turn out to Wy’east Middle School in Odell every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. Single players and teams are welcome. Drop-ins are also OK. All abilities are invited. For more information, call Hood River Community Education at 386-2055.

HRV youth softball camp Sunday

All girls softball players in grades 4-12 are invited to attend a five-hour softball camp at Hood River Valley High School on Sunday, Feb. 16. Camp will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost is $35 per player. Players are asked to bring tennis shoes, glove, bat and a sack lunch. Trail Daze slated for March 1

The second-annual Trail Daze outdoor education clinic will be held Saturday, March 1, at Hood River Valley High School. Sponsored by Heights retailer Shortt Supply and Hood River Community Education, this all-day clinic will teach people all there is to know about trail first-aid, orienteering, footwear/ conditioning, and water filtration/hydration. Each two-hour class will be taught by an industry professional. Cost for the whole day is $10, payable to Community Education. For more information, call 386-2055 or 386-5474 (Shortt Supply).

Teen summer camp plans announced

Julee’s Gorge Tours will be hosting a teen summer camp from Aug. 10-14 here in the Gorge. Teenagers 12-17 years-old will go hiking, rafting, kayaking and orienteering.
