Preliminary results were all that could be retrieved in the two days following Sunday’s Columbia River Gorge Marathon and Half Marathon.
As of Tuesday morning, race officials were still trying to iron out some confusion surrounding the women’s marathon race, in which some participants started at 6 a.m. but were credited with the normal finish.
Local marathoner Ali Hilden finished third with a time of 3 hours, 30 minutes, 9 seconds. But, to her surprise, she was listed fifth in the official race results.
Race director Kevin Foreman said that the company handling the results mixed the early start and the normal start, and accidentally placed two people ahead of Hilden in the standings. All problems should be resolved this week.
Also adding to the confusion was the name of Elliott Otto, who is listed as the women’s winner with a time of 2:54:46. But, according to Forman, Otto is actually a man.
On the men’s side, Will Hicks of Lopez, Wash., won the marathon in a time of 2:45:17.
