County holds hearing on new transportation plan

The Board of County Commissioners will consider a recommendation from the County Planning Commission to adopt a Transportation System Plan (TSP) for Hood River County at a public hearing scheduled for Monday night. Amendments to the County’s policy document, comprehensive plan, and zoning ordinance are proposed in order to implement the County TSP. The public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., in the 2nd floor conference room of the county courthouse.

At Monday night’s hearing, the County will also consider: adopting the City of Hood River’s TSP; amending Section ’L’ of the City of Hood River/Hood River County Urban Growth Area Management Agreement to require that all new streets be built to City standards; and amending Chapter 17 of the County zoning ordinance by adopting new or amended ordinances to implement the city of Hood River’s amended TSP in the urban growth area.

Adoption of these ordinances would only apply within the City of Hood River’s urban growth area. The County will also consider adopting the City of Cascade Locks’ TSP for its urban growth area.

Written or oral comments may be provided at the June 30 public hearing before the Board of County Commissioners. For more information, please contact Josette Griffiths, Senior Planner, at 387-6840.
