Men’s team wins The Dalles league
A group of local men’s basketball players recently won the Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation winter league at Wahtonka High School by posting a 9-1 record. Airtime wrestlers compete at tourneys
Three members of the local Airtime Wrestling Club recently participated in two Northwest tournaments and posted strong finishes. HRV junior Jason DeHart took first place at 171 pounds in the junior division at the Peninsula Superstars freestyle tournament. Teammate Rocky Level took first place at 140 pounds in the junior division of the National Dual Team Qualifier at Sprague High School, and will compete April 4-6 against 23 other teams at the University of Delaware. Salmon fishing seminar Thursday
Join Luhr-Jensen fishing pro Buzz Ramsey on Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for an informative session that will prepare you for the spring salmon run. Learn about fish habits, run forecasts, hot locations, angling techniques and tackle. Class will be held in HRVHS room H-14, and the cost is $15 per person. HRV lacrosse hosts jamboree Saturday
The Hood River Valley High School lacrosse team will host a 12-team jamboree on Saturday at the fields behind Wy’east Middle School. League opponents Hermiston, Wilson and Grant will join Southridge, Century, Westview and others for a series of games that will last from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each game is two 30-minute halves with a running clock. HRV’s first game is at 10 a.m. versus West Linn. The Eagles also play at 12:30 p.m. vs. Westview, and at 3 p.m. vs. Sunset.
HR Little League hosts clean-up day
The Hood River Little League chapter will be hosting a spring field maintenance and clean-up day at the HR Little League complex on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. All majors, minors softball and baseball players and their parents are asked to come to the facility to help get ready for the season. The HR Little League main board will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. Meeting will be held in the lobby conference room across from the cafeteria. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
USA Luge to host demo March 22-23
Athletes from USA Luge will demonstrate proper luge techniques this Saturday and Sunday at Mt. Hood Meadows during the Verizon Luge Challenge. The free family event is open to adults and children ages 10 and up, and also features a live DJ, prize drawings and free refreshments. After instruction and practice runs in the morning, participants will spends the afternoon tackling the snow-banked track in a race against the clock. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on March 22, with qualifying runs to follow, and finals at 1 p.m. A Kids Carnival will also be taking place at Meadows. For more, visit www.skihood.com.
