Out of towner wins 8-ball tournament
Jeremy Mercado of Hermiston (above left) defeated Chris Schreiber of Vancouver, Wash., in the finals of last Saturday’s Open 8-ball tournament at Hood River Billiards. A field of 13 players from all over Washington and Oregon participated in the event, which saw Hood River’s own Cristy Barsky finish third. Barsky said she played her “best tournament in years” against a superlative field, and although she had to settle for third, she still won some tough matches to reach the Final Four. The next open tournament at HR Billiards will be May 26. The name of the game will be 9-ball. Handicap events continue Wednesdays and Saturdays, beginning at 7 p.m. For more, e-mail email@example.com.
