Saturday morning pick-up soccer game
Starting today, anyone interested in playing Saturday morning pick-up soccer is asked to turn out to Westside Field at 10 a.m. After the tremendous success of the adult co-ed league, interest in the sport is rapidly growing. Hansen hits hole in one at Indian Creek
Anne Hansen of Hood River fired a hole in one last Friday at Indian Creek. Shooting from the red tees on 101-yard hole No. 10, the 45-year-old Hansen accomplished the feat with a sand wedge.
HR Little League meeting on Monday
The Hood River Little League monthly meeting will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in conference room 1. Agenda will include rules revisions and all-star selection process. Volunteers are needed for safety officer and treasurer. For more info, call Lisa at 386-3514.
HR Billiards begins in-house league
Hood River Billiards will be starting a new in-house pool league on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 7-9 p.m. Players of all abilities are invited to attend, and cost is $7 per player per week. An open 9-ball tournament will be held next Saturday (Nov. 22) starting in the morning. Entry fee is $20 and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers.
Preseason youth hoop clinics at HRMS
Boys basketball players in grades 4-8 are encouraged to sign up for a skills development and conditioning camp Nov. 17-20. Led by Art Kunigel, the camp will last from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hood River Middle School. Cost is $30 per player. A similar camp will be offered for girls from Dec. 1-4. Call 386-2055 for more.
HRV alumni basketball tourney Nov. 29
The annual Hood River Valley High School alumni basketball tournament will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, beginning at 9 a.m. (Thanksgiving weekend). Cost is $15 per player and teams will be assigned. The tournament is open to all HRVHS alumni and interested community members. If you would like more information, call Phil Hukari at 386-4500.
HRV softball holding holiday fruit sale
The HRV softball team is selling Sunkist oranges and Texas Rio Star grapefruits for the holiday season. For a donation of $15, you will receive a 20-pound box of oranges or grapefruits. Contact a team representative or call Phil Hukari at 386-4500.
3-on-3 men’s hoops league sign-ups
The annual 3-on-3 men’s basketball league will be getting underway soon at Wy’east Middle School, and team sign-ups are now being accepted by Hood River Community Education. The recreational league is for men 21 and older, and cost is $50 per team (individuals also welcome to sign up). Play begins Tuesday, Jan. 13, and lasts until March 9. Games ar e played on half courts, and teams play two games per week. Call 386-2055 with questions.
Community Ed youth hoops sign-ups
Registrations are now being accepted for Hood River Community Education youth basketball. Deadline is Dec. 5, and the program is open to kids in grades 3-6. Players will be placed on teams according to their grade level, and separate leagues will be provided for 3rd/4th grade boys and girls, and 5th/6th grade boys and girls. Cost is $35 per player and games will be held on Saturdays starting in January. The practice schedule will be once per week. If you need more info, call 386-2055.
