Port chooses Community Relations panel

Three Hood River county residents were appointed to the Port of Hood River’s Community Relations Committee last week. Member selection for a second Port group, the Waterfront Recreational Committee, was expected at the Sept. 23 Port Commission meeting.

Charles Bugge, Kathy Watson and Paige Rouse were chosen for the Community Relations Committee. Port Commissioners Sherry Bohn and Hoby Streich sit on that committee, and Port staff members Linda Hull and Mike Doke will also participate.

Bugge is a retired Hood River County School District superintendent. Bugge continues to be active in a variety of local and state organizations, including the Odell Lions Club, Hospice of The Gorge and the Hood River County Chamber of Commerce board.

Watson is co-owner of Watson x2, a local communications firm. She is former editor-in-chief of Oregon Business magazine, was editorial director of Oregon Business Media and serves on the Port’s budget committee.

Rouse is a longtime Hood River resident who co-owns Pageworks. She has been active in a number of local projects and assists the Port with its quarterly newsletter.

The Port’s Community Relations Committee will assist the agency as it proceeds on major local projects, including Hood River waterfront development and Hood River Interstate Bridge redecking.
