The Horizon Christian School golf team wrapped up its first ever season this week at Pendleton's Wild Horse golf course in its 1A district tournament.

After two days of golf, Horizon's Steven Stenberg posted the five-player team's best performance.

Stenberg came within only two strokes of qualifying for the state tournament with 84-and 87 stroke games to finish seventh in the district out of 55 total golfers.

"The tournament was great competition for our young team," said Horizon Coach Oscar Stenberg. "It was a long and challenging course and the team improved by almost 30 strokes on the second day. We needed to start with our second day score and improve by 30 from there to really compete though."

"Thank you to both golf courses and their pros in the Hood River community for allowing our boys and girls to play free," Stenberg commented. "And a special thank-you for the many opportunities to play the Hood River JV teams through-out the season."
