The Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District offers a wide array of native trees and shrubs suitable for this area in its annual tree and plant sale.
Orders are due by Dec. 1 for the selection of bare-root seedlings 1 or 2 years old and 8 to 20 inches in height. To get more information, request an order form or place an order, call the Hood River SWCD at 386-4588 or stop by the office at 3007 Experiment Station Road.
Conifer trees available include varieties of fir, cedar, pine, and western larch at a price of $1 per tree. Deciduous trees available for $2 per tree include maple, cascara, ash, dogwood, and aspen.
All shrubs cost $2 and include Douglas spirea, mock orange, nootka rose, elderberry, dogwood, vine maple and Pacific ninebark.
