Full Sail stages a new ‘Session’

May 18

The employee owners of Full Sail Brewing announced the release of Session Premium Lager last week.

The release of Session marks the return of the classic 11 ounce stubby bottle — once the standard shape and size of American beer containers. Full Sail began bottling the beer last week.

According to Jamie Emmerson, Full Sail Brewmaster, “Session is an extremely tasty import-style lager — a lot like the kind of beer American breweries made back in the pre-Prohibition days. It has plenty of flavor — and goes down clean and smooth.”

“This project has really been a labor of love,” Emmerson said. “After 17 years of brewing great ales, we wanted to brew a lager that would appeal to all good beer drinkers — import, micro, or otherwise. The stubby bottle is part of American brewing history and after years of thinking, developing, formulating, and tasting we brewed a beer that was the right fit for the bottle. And from the reaction we’ve been getting, I think we really hit the mark.”

The package design, by Sandstrom Design of Portland, Ore., celebrates both the tradition behind the beer as well as the fun of developing, brewing and drinking Session lager. The 12-pack features images of the distinctive stubby bottle, the retro red logo and a few surprises.

Bright red twist off caps reveal the classic American game “Rock, Paper, Scissors.”

This classic all-malt continental Pilsner is brewed with American and European hops for a wonderful noble hop aroma and two row barley malt — with a touch of wheat malt for a pleasant refreshing finish.

The beer was made for apres-surf session, apres-ski session, apres-jam session — well, you get the idea.
