Playoffs bright for HRV Lacrosse

HRV plays Wilson High School Tuesday night at Hood River

The Hood River Valley Eagles lacrosse team continued their playoff journey 7 p.m. Tuesday night with a home game against Wilson High School. Their second play off game followed a commanding at-home victory Friday night against Riverdale.

With three goals in the opening minute of Friday night's game and nine unanswered in the first quarter alone, the Eagles lacrosse team trampled Riverdale in the first round of the state playoff tournament.

"We had nearly perfect execution in the first half," commented head coach Mac Jackson. "We ran our motion offense very well and we had a lot of passing and movement of the ball."

On offense, the Eagles scored 11 assisted in the first half and the defenders shut Riverdale down to just one shot on goal. Adding to the mayhem were Terry Sanders and Josh McHale, who won 91percent of the face-offs and the Eagle's man-down defense did not give up a single goal in their six penalties.

With a 14 goal lead at half time, the Eagles let up in the third and fourth quarters and scored only two goals in the second half. Riverdale managed a lone goal in the fourth for a final score of 16-1.

Scorers for the game were: Chris Reidl- 5 goals, 3 assists, Zach Bohince - 3 goals, 3 assists, David Voigt - 2 goals, 1 assist, Casey Vannet - 2 goals, Paul Spaulding- 1 goal, 1 assist, Alex Evans- 1 goal, Josh McHale- 1 goal, 1 assist, Peter Debbaut- 1 goal, Terry Sanders- 1 assist, Sheridan Low - 1 assist.
