Middle schools host events next week

September 17, 2005

Food and fun are in store this week as Wy’east Middle School and Hood River Middle School welcome the community to events on campus.

Hood River Middle School hosts its annual community barbecue on the north side of the campus on Tuesday. Hot dogs, hamburgers and the trimmings are available, and the public is welcome to watch the volleyball and football games between Hood River’s Panthers and Wy’east’s Eagles. Festivities get underway at 4 p.m.

Wy’east holds the Fall Eagle Fest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend.

The jazz band and choir will perform, along with Los Temerosos mariachi ensemble and the student rock band Backdraft.

Barbecue will be served and the student council will conduct a cake walk and face painting.

“The building will be open so that parents can come and take a tour, see their children’s classrooms and get to feeling comfortable with the school,” said assistant principal Catherine Dalbey.
