Regular season fall sports for the Hood River Valley High School Eagles will wrap up on Nov. 4, with away JV and varsity football games at The Dalles. Boys and girls soccer, volleyball and cross country seasons end this week, with varsity boys and girls soccer and volleyball playing once at home and once away. The cross country team will travel to Crook County on Saturday for the Intermountain Conference (IMC) district meet. The state meet will be the following Saturday, Nov. 5, at Lane Community College in Eugene.
Eagle football and volleyball seasons will end with the regular season, as neither will advance to the state playoffs.
The varsity boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are close in the running for their state playoff tournaments, with both teams fighting to place third or fourth in the IMC. Their final games this week will be key in sealing playoff spots, as the top four teams in each district advance.
The Horizon Hawks finished their regular season with a 7-3 record, which was good enough for a third place finish in the 2A/1A District 2.
The Hawks started their district tournament on Tuesday afternoon, with a home game against Columbia Christian. For coverage of the game, see Saturday’s Hood River News.
Horizon will also host a special 1A district tournament Friday and Saturday this week, with teams from Ukiah, Southwest Bible, Central Christian, Damascus, Cascade Locks, Open Door and Open Bible participating.
