Indian Creek golf pro Dennis Dolin made it his goal to increase youth involvement with golf when he took the position as head golf professional at Indian Creek. Earlier this month his work paid off when he was named a junior golf leader by the by the Oregon chapter of the Professional Golf Association.

“It’s nice to be recognized for the things you do, Dolin said. “But the rewards come every moment that I am working with kids.”

Dolin said that his programs have been a part of his mission as a PGA professional to give back to the community, especially with the youth.

He feels that the best way to grow the sport of golf is to get children involved at a young age.

“The ones I see having the most fun are the ones who have never played before,” he said.

Just as he hopes to help golf grow in popularity among youths, he hopes to help the juniors program at Indian Creek grow as well, when they start again in June.

“I’m really hoping to build here,” he said. “I’ve offered some weekly programs and they really took off. I’m really looking forward to building golf in the Hood River area.”
