The Hood River Swim Team Ospreys traveled to Lake Oswego last weekend to compete at the Dan Perez Memorial. The Ospreys finished fourth as a team against several top-notch programs from the Portland area, including King Swimming, Lake Oswego Swim Club, The Tornadoes, the David Douglas Swim Club and the Yawama Swim Club.
Individual highlights from the meet include Erin Nelson and Kylie Webb achieving new state “A” times in several events, Molly Nelson winning every event in her age group and first place finishes from Matthew Bergstrom, Erin Jones, JJ Mears, Nelson, Jessie Robertson, and Connor Webb. Swimmers Kainalu Bailey and Willie Ishizaka braved the waters in their first ever swim meet.
Next up for the Ospreys is the Vancouver Superbowl, scheduled for the last weekend of January. The team’s championship season starts in February.
