HRV lacrosse moves on to playoffs

It’s always nice to end a season on a high note.

A hat trick for Ian Bohince, two goals each for Alex Evans, Jacob Bohince, Will Kline, Paul Spaulding and Jon Ing and a goal from Eli Camero, Zach Flaming and Eric Tedford gave the Hood River Valley varsity lacrosse team a victory worth celebrating Wednesday night at Hermiston High School.

“We started off very well against them, controlling the ball, passing well and cutting to work for good shots,” Coach Mac Jackson said. “The best thing about the game was that we stayed disciplined with our offense and ran our plays and motion.”

Hood River dominated all aspects of the game against the Bulldogs, who finished last in the Columbia East this season. Offensively, nine different players scored and 11 of the 16 goals were assisted. Defensively, the line shut-down Hermiston, allowing no goals in the first half, one in the third quarter and two in the fourth.

The 16-2 win brings the team to a final regular-season record of 5-6 in the division and 6-8 overall. But their season is not over yet.

The Eagles finished third in the Columbia East, which pitted them against the Columbia West’s number-two team, Wilson, Friday night at Wilson in the first round of the state playoffs. Results of that game will be featured in the May 17 Hood River News.
