A tough season came to an end for the Hood River Valley volleyball team this week The team lost its final home match of the year to Central Catholic in three games and then went on the road to Barlow to close out the season with a three-game loss there.

Against the Rams, the Eagles fell 25-6, 25-11 and 25-6.

In the first game of the match Sarah Wood had good performance defensively but the Rams’ height advantage and hitting power, which would prove to be the difference in the match, was to much to overcome.

In the second game Bailie Hillen and Rachel Schlosser both logged solid performances at the net and behind the serving line.

In the finale Sasha McHale played well for the Eagles’, but they could not overcome an early deficit.

“When we move and make passes we do fine,” Coach Scott Walker said. “We just were not doing it.”

Walker credited Wood with a good performance and for holding the line in the Eagles’ passing game, while he said that Justina Mcrae played well at the middle back position, a spot that she had not played all season.

The match was the final home appearance for seniors Katrina Logsdon, Rachel Schlosser, Sasha McHale, and Sarah Wood.

On Wednesday the team closed out its season losing to Barlow 25-15, 25-20, 25-8.
