News staff writer

September 2, 2006

Following the cancellation of last weekend’s race, the quest for the Gorge Cup comes down to today’s finale. Dale Cook currently holds the lead over Bruce Peterson in the first fleet, and while Peterson made up some ground in the previous race, he will need a huge win to defend his title.

In the second fleet Derek Nielson holds a commanding lead over the next closest competitor.

Barring postponement due to weather the action will get underway following the 9 a.m. skippers meeting and will be followed by a party at Divots restaurant beginning at 6:30 p.m.
