The Hood River City Police Department is looking for a suspect who stole numerous items — including the front bumper — from a car parked Sunday night along Columbia Avenue.

“This wasn’t just a car prowl; someone was looking for parts that would fit another vehicle,” said Sgt. Stan Baker.

He said the owner of the 2002 white Honda Civic believed the thefts occurred between 11:30 p.m. July 4 and 5:30 a.m. July 5.

Baker said one of the family members looked out the window on Monday and saw boxes that had been stowed inside the car sitting on the ground outside.

That individual then went outside to investigate and found the two front seats missing, as well as the bumper, rear tail lights, radio and center console.

Baker said the replacement cost of the items is likely to top $1,000. He said anyone noticing suspicious activity along Columbia Street July 4-5 is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch line at 541-386-2711 and relay that information.
