Hood River Dynamos Youth Soccer Club Competitive Tryouts May 15-16

Tryouts for the Hood River Dynamos Youth Soccer Club are May 15-16. Tryouts are open to children born Aug. 1, 1997, through July 31, 2003.

Visit, HR Community Education, located at 1011 Eugene St. in Hood River or Michoacan Mexican Restaurant located at 3406 Odell Highway in Odell to pre-register, find out specific times and locations, and to view our tryout FAQ's. Cost is $10 before May 5 and $20 after May 5 or on-site.

Futbol Carnival and 5 vs. 5 tourney June 4

A Futbol carnival and 5 vs. 5 tournament is June 4 2011 at the Port of Hood River Marina Green.

Girls, boys, Men's and Women's divisions ages 9-12, 13-16, 17 and older. Cost is $50 per team with a maximum of eight-players, limited to six teams per division. Download the team registration form and player registration form from ,, or pick up at HR Community Education or Michoacan Mexican Restaurant.

Other activities will include bouncy house, karaoke, face painting, dunk tank, radar gun and a CA$H raffle. Food will be provided by Michoacan Mexican Restaurant.

Money generated from this event will go towards player scholarships and financial aid.

Tetra Brazil Soccer Camp June 20-24

A Brazilian soccer camp is June 20-24 at Westside Elementary school. The camp is designed for the aggressive, competitive player.

Half day ages 8-11 from 9 a.m to noon is $120

Half day ages 12-16 from 1 p.m to 4 p.m is $120

Full day ages 10-16 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m is $165

HRYC Opening Day today

Opening Day for the Hood River Yacht Club is Saturday, April 23, starting at 2 p.m. The theme for this year's parade is Mardi Gras. From 2-3 p.m. is the parade and blessing of the fleet. There will be prizes for best-dressed boat and crew. Following the parade will be a crawfish boil and barbecue from 5-7 p.m. at the clubhouse. Dinner includes fresh crawfish, corn, potatoes, and sausage as well as burgers and veggie burgers. BYOB. Cost is is $15.Sign up at

Cascade to Crown registration open

Registration is open for the Cascade to Crown ride from Cascade Locks to Crown Point on June 26. Ride options include a 50-mile ride or a family ride from Cascade Locks to Bonneville Dam. Registration for riders 16 and over for the Challenge ride is $45 before June 1.

For the family ride, before June 1 cost is $20 for adult riders 16 and older and children ages 7-15 are $15. Children six and under are free. For more information about both rides, or to register, visit

Duathlon workouts in The Dalles Tuesdays

There are free duathlon workouts/practices every Tuesday night at 6 pm at The Dalles marina parking lot. Run/bike/run or walk/bike/walk for all fitness levels. Timed and bikes watched during the run. Call Heidi Gustafson 541-980-0081 for more information.
