Hood River Christmas events Friday and Saturday
John Christie of WINGS and Erin Mueller of Hood River Chamber of Commerce put up decorations Friday afternoon at the cocoa and cookies booth on Second Street, in preparation for Friday’s Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting event. The parade starts at 6 p.m. on Oak Street and goes through downtown to Second and State, and the tree lighting and caroling starts at 7 p.m. Also on Friday, see the opening of the Dec. 2-11 display of handmade gingerbread houses, at Columbia Center for the Arts. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily the Center for the Arts will have the final gingerbread houses on display for public to view and participate in the silent auction, as a benefit for the center.
The Christmas fun continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. as Hood River County Library hosts Holiday Story Time and Candy Cane Hunt. Kids can enjoy a candy cane hunt in the park followed by a festive holiday story and some hot cocoa. For a full list of Hood River Holidays activities, visit www.hoodriver.org.
