Arens leaving Gorge Commission

The Columbia River Gorge Commission is holding a Special Meeting Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 5:30 pm at the US Forest Service Office, 902 Wasco Avenue, Suite 200, Hood River. Agenda: 4 p.m., call to order; 4:10, public comment; 4:15, opportunity for treaty tribe nations to address commission; 4:20 p.m., On the agenda is the hiring process for new executive director; current executive director Jill Arens will be leaving in early 2012.

On Tuesday, Arens announced her resignation after five years in the post, according to aVancouver Columbian article. “This position has been exciting and challenging, and uncommonly satisfying,” she said in an email after informing Gorge commissioners, her staff and the governors’ offices in Olympia and Salem of her decisio, according to the Columbian.
