Beer Runners finish first in division

Adventurous Hood River-area residents making up the Lagunitas Beer Runners took to their annual summer pilgrimage to northern Washington for the Ragnar Northwest Passage Relay race.

The two-day, one-night running relay race, stretching from the U.S./Canada border to Whidbey Island northwest of Seattle, is a stop on the nationwide Ragnar Relay Series. Teams are made up of 6-12 individuals and stages are broken into 3-8 mile stretches.

Along the way, the 200-mile course winds through Bellingham, across Deception Pass and finishes on Whidbey Island

With the theme of getting wine, not beer, the team seems to be getting better with age. The group finished in first place in the Mixed Masters Division (over 40), with an average pace of 8:17 per mile.
