Longtime Hood River resident Jean Harmon won this year’s Harvest Quilt, organized by the Friends of ETC and benefiting the Soroptimists. Harmon, who helped sell tickets, received the quilt after her name was drawn Harvest Fest weekend.
The Harvest Quilt is an annual competition. Quilters pick up the year’s chosen fabrics at ETC and create a block (or more) to be judged by the public during Blossom Fest weekend. The 30 blocks with the most votes get sewn into the quilt.
Tickets were sold between June and October at every venue possible, says Harmon, including First Friday and the Fourth of July events.
The Soroptimists will use the $3,000 raised to grant two $1,500 Women’s Opportunity Awards. Women chosen are heads of household trying to improve their situation.
This is the full list of artists with blocks on this year’s quilt: Elizabeth Garber, Anita Finnegan, Beth Gardner, Barbara Blanchette, Marlene Lahti, Kathy Taylor, Sherry Allen, Lois Sharkey, Kathy Anderson, Joanne Cochran, Laurie Fadness, Diana Jewell, Elaine Kirby, Sue Lambert, Anne Marie Levens, Sue Moore, Marie Pickering, Faye Ronk, Janine Scott, Jean Stone, Marietta Woody, Ann Zuehlke and Carol Cochran.
