A long-overdue honor was bestowed Sunday to Sab Akiyama and Taylor Tomita. The two Hood River residents and Nisei veterans of World War II were given congressional gold medals, the highest civilian honor in the nation, by Sen. Ron Wyden. See the March 21 Hood River News for more.
