HRVHS fastpitch ends ‘measuring stick’ season

With three freshmen, five sophomores and four juniors in its varsity lineup, Hood River Valley High School’s varsity fastpitch squad had a lot of building up to do this season.

The team finished 12-14 overall, with a disappointing 3-2 loss last week against Wilsonville in a play-in game for the state playoff tournament.

“The team battled and fought hard ... and improved tremendously over the season,” coach Eric Keller said. “This year is a good measuring stick, and we’ll look to improve upon it next year.”

Graduating seniors Megan Winans, Katie White and Logan Bailey will be repalced in the lineup by seven expected returning starters and a strong group of younger players looking to fill their shoes.
