Charley’s Trail Day Saturday

The third-annual Charley LaVenture Trail Day will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday on Charley’s Trail (off Riordan Hill Road, first right after Family Man). The day’s activities (rain or shine) will include a work party to repair part of the trail and a group ride. The trail was created in memory of longtime Hood River resident Charley LaVenture, who passed away in October 2009.

Seedings on the line Sunday in Gorge Hoops

Undefeated Indian Outlaws (10-0) remain atop the Gorge Hoops League standings with a big weekend of action happening Sunday. Second-place The Dalles (9-1) and Indian Outlaws face off at 5 p.m. Sunday in one of five games that will determine seedings among the eight teams that have made the season tournament.

In third is Pee Wee’s Auto Detail of Hood River (8-2), which meets Sarsfield Cattle (7-3) at 3:45.

“We have never had a last week that meant so much to seedings,” said league organizer Brian Stevens. “This should be a competitive Sunday.” All games are at Wahtonka gym in The Dalles.

Fury (7-3) and Lucky 13 (5-5) also contend for a high seeding in their game at 6:15 p.m.

Week seven scores:

River Monsters 119 – The Duty Shoots 72

Sarsfield Cattle 74 – Low End Theory 57

Hood River Wolfpack 56 – Run & Gun 44

The Dalles 94 – Trout Lake 59

Indian Outlaws 81 – Fury 67

Pee Wee’s Auto Detail 98 – Lucky 13 61

Box lacrosse leagues forming

Middle school boys lacrosse players are being recruited for an indoor league that will play Monday evenings starting Nov. 26 at a new indoor facility at The Dalles Fitness and Court Club. The league will be a 6-v-6 format and is open to a total of 22 players; registration should be done as soon as possible to ensure a place on the team.

Interested players will have a chance to try indoor lacrosse at an introductory session hosted by Hood River Valley High School head coach John Munk at 6 p.m. Nov. 23 ($8 entry fee).

In addition to a youth league, a high school/adult indoor league is in the planning stages and interested players are being recruited.
