High School students from Hood River Valley and Horizon Christian schools participated in Leaders for Tomorrow’s Agriculture day on Oct. 23 by visiting Cody Orchards Farm Stand in Odell.
Leaders for Tomorrow 2006 graduate Lisa Perry and her family own and operate Cody Orchards.
Perry told the class about the broad impacts of buying locally and supporting local growers (“An apple a day allows farmers to stay!”) as well as the challenges of fruit production in a global economy.
Students learned the critical role of math and science in agriculture and developed a greater appreciation for all that goes into being successful in agriculture.
