Lions move newsprint trailer

One of two newspaper drop-off trailers managed by the Hood River Lions Club has moved to a new location.

Scott Johnson, chair of the relocation efforts, said the trailer moved Sept. 14 from temporary quarters west of Rosauers to its new host site south of 12th St. Cleaners.

The Lions hosted a grand opening event with gift cards and certificates from Rosauers and River’s Edge Automotive, and vouchers for trash drop-off at the Hood River Garbage transfer station.

Newspaper recycling by Lions — from collection depots at Safeway and, now, the 12th St. Cleaners site —help fund a variety of youth programs in the Hood River area. Among them, Lions fundraising supports Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Little League, 4-H, the SMART reader program, and eye screening for all first-graders.

Persons with newspapers for recycling (please, no trash or other types of paper) may drop off their donations at either of the trailers, at any time of day, all year long.
