Child Advocacy Center hosts ‘Spring for Kids’ fundraiser

The Columbia Gorge Children’s Advocacy Center (CGCAC) is having a fundraiser on Saturday, 7-10 p.m. at Springhouse Cellar in Hood River.

Live music will be provided by Tim Mayer’s Groove Project. Admission is $20 for adults.

Debi Baskins, the CGCAC Director said, “Some of our live auction items include: an airplane tour of the gorge and Mt Hood with retired Hood River County Sheriff, Joe Wampler, as your pilot; Anaheim, Rockaway and Baja vacation rentals; steelhead fishing trip with Mark Needham; and an honorary flag flown over the U.S. Capitol, compliments of U.S. Rep. Greg Walden.

Since opening in 2009 the CGCAC has served over 180 children in the Columbia Gorge region by providing a safe and child-friendly atmosphere for them to be interviewed and examined if they become a crime victim.

“Without the CGCAC these children would be interviewed at law enforcement or child welfare offices and examined in the emergency room,” Baskins said.

Sponsors of this event are Northwest Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, Columbia Bank, CenterPointe Bank, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Your Rental Center and Juanita’s.
